App Layout
SupportID renders a single dark layout, tuned for reading a device’s identifiers at arm’s length across a help desk. The layout is not configurable — what you control is which sections appear and what goes in them.
Screen structure
Section titled “Screen structure”| Element | Contents | Controlled by |
|---|---|---|
| Header | App title and the gear button that opens Settings | appTitle |
| Hero card | Device name, configuration-source badge, and the device’s primary identifier with a Copy button | Data points |
| Device Data | The remaining visible data points as grouped rows | dataPointN* |
| Storage | Free space, used-of-total, and a capacity bar | showStorageSection |
| Shortcuts | Settings and Self Service tiles | showShortcutsSection, selfServiceProvider |
| Footer | “Last updated” timestamp | — |
The layout is always dark, regardless of the device’s appearance setting.
The hero card
Section titled “The hero card”One data point is promoted to the top of the screen in large monospaced type:
- The first visible data point whose label contains “serial” (case-insensitive) wins — the serial number is what support desks ask for first.
- If no label matches, the first visible data point is used.
To promote a different value, label it so no data point mentions “serial”, or order your data points so the one you want appears first.
Alongside the value:
- Device name — the device’s own name, read on-device.
- Source badge — Managed (green) when the configuration came from MDM, On Device when it came from manual setup. No badge when the app is unconfigured.
- Copy button — copies the value to the clipboard and confirms with Copied. It is hidden when the value is a placeholder (
-), so an empty data point never puts junk on the clipboard.
The hero data point is not repeated in the Device Data rows below.
Device data rows
Section titled “Device data rows”Remaining visible data points render as a grouped list: label on the left, value on the right.
Refreshing
Section titled “Refreshing”Pull down on the main screen to reload the configuration and re-read storage; the “Last updated” timestamp reflects the last reload. SupportID also reloads automatically whenever the managed configuration changes, so a re-pushed app config applies without the user doing anything.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”The gear button in the header opens Settings, which shows:
- Configuration Status — Active or Not Configured
- Configuration Source — MDM, Manual, or None
- Version — marketing version and build number
- Manual Configuration — Edit and Remove, shown only when the active configuration was entered on-device
- Support and Compliance links — see Settings Links
